An Installation inspired by the human sens of touch – Jin Kuramoto × Raw Edges

Designers Jin Kuramoto (Tokyo) and Raw Edges (London) collaborated together to create an Installation for AGC Asahi Glass, titled Touch. The Installation took place at Salone del Mobile 2017.

AGC Asahi Glass is a Japanese company that works in architectural glass, automotive glass and display glass. AGC hopes that this new creation will propose new uses and possibilities for glass and stimulate the imagination and inspiration of designers in the fields of architecture, interior design, product design and spatial presentation.

The installation Touch places a focus on the feel of glass, which is inspired by the human sens of touch. It is stimulating the curiosity of visitors and make them feel like “touching” the works and experiencing the diverse range of textures and feel of glass.Raw Edges – As from early age we are taught not to touch glass directly as it is fragile and shouldn’t be left with marks. And now, we should encourage the visitors of the exhibition to do just the opposite.

With a focus on the human senses, glass has been transformed from an object that conventionally partitions, decorates and protects into a material that is designed for people to touch.
